Congratulations to Ayla Richards from North Carolina, the 2017 National 5th Grade Essay Contest Winner. Ayla attended the American Mothers National Conference in Washington D.C. where she read her winning essay to a crowded room full of mothers (including her own), from across the country. Adding to the excitement, it was also the first time for Ayla’s mother to hear her daughter’s winning essay. After Ayla read her essay to her mother from the podium, there was not a dry eye left in the room. Ayla received a plaque with her essay engraved on it and her mother was given a lovely bouquet of flowers. The luncheon took place in the beautiful and historic Crystal room of the Willard Hotel. After lunch, Ayla went to Capitol Hill where she received congratulations from members of her Congressional delegation.
