Kathie Lee Gifford to Headline Convention

Mothers from across the nation will have an opportunity to celebrate motherhood, learn from experts on women’s issues and network with some of America’s most inspirational moms during the American Mothers National Convention April 25 – 27 at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City.

The featured speaker for the event is Kathie Lee Gifford, American television host, actress, singer, playwright, songwriter, author and mother. Gifford has enjoyed a successful four-decade career and is best known for her 15 years on Regis and Kathie Lee. She is currently acting as the three time Emmy-winning co-host of the fourth hour of the Today Show with Hoda Kotb.

Gifford devotes much of her time to the Association to Benefit Children, which supports Cody House, a transitional home for infants and children with severe disabilities and serious medical problems, and Cassidy's Place, an organization named for Gifford’s daughter that has just celebrated its 15th anniversary and is the home of the Association to Benefit Children’s (ABC) national children advocacy.

She will speak at the convention on Friday, April 26 and will be presented with the Mother of Achievement award from American Mothers. The award recognizes outstanding women whose positive influence, talents and community service has made a significant impact in the lives of children and families.

“I am honored and humbled to be recognized by American Mothers, and I look forward to sharing my story with mothers from across the nation at this exciting convention,” Gifford said. “This organization does incredible work to help encourage and inspire mothers of all walks of life, whether they are career-minded or stay-at-home mothers, and I can’t wait to meet them and hear their stories.”

American Mothers, Inc. is a national nonprofit organization honoring mothers across the country. The organization will present their annual awards during the conference, including recognition for 2013 Mother of the Year, Young Mother of the Year and Mother of Achievement.

“We are looking forward to recognizing, celebrating and thanking mothers for the amazing work they do on a daily basis and for the contributions they are making in the community and across the nation,” said Connell Branan, president of American Mothers, Inc. “This conference is an incredible opportunity for all of these strong women to come together, learn from each other and grow in our personal and professional lives.”

In 1933, American Mothers was organized as a division of JCPenney’s Golden Rule Foundation.  Its mission is to promote Mother’s Day and recognize deserving mothers across the country. American Mothers is also recognized as a non-governmental organization at the United Nations working with the Commission on the Status of Women to eradicate violence against women.
