New Hampshire Mother of the Year visits with the Governor

A lovely event recognizing the 2010 New Hampshire Mother of the Year, Valerie Earnshaw was held recently in the Governor's quarters at the state house.   Friends and family, members of the New Hampshire Association of American Mothers and several of the state's congressmen and women were in attendance.  Governor John Lynch read a proclamation honoring all New Hampshire mothers which was followed by the traditional Rose Ceremony, where friends and family of the honoree read special remarks and each present the Mother of the Year with a rose. Following the Rose Ceremony, the Mother of the Year spoke about the many facets of motherhood and also asked the Legislature to consider evaluating all issues in light of their effect on the family.

A member of the Boston's Children's Symphony provided the entertainment.  After the ceremony, members of the New Hampshire Association of American Mothers presented a dozen quilts to the Dartmouth/Hitchcock neonatal intensive care unit.  These quilts were made by a local student in conjunction with the ABC Quilt's program, sponsored by American Mothers, Inc.®.
