1992 National Mother of the Year

APRIL 10, 2023

FullSizeRenderJohanna Cubbage was named the National Mother of the Year in 1992.  Her passion was mentoring mothers due to her involvement with foster children.  Johanna’s philosophy was to encourage mothers to learn from other mothers.  The Wyoming Department of Family Services created a position for Johanna to supervise a Mentoring of Mothers program.  She and her late husband raised their family on a wonderful 350 acre ranch in Powell, Wyoming.  They had four biological sons and 50 foster children.  She wrote The Gentle Art of Mother Mentoring, which was  published in 1998 as a teaching tool for mothers everywhere.  It continues to be an effective outreach program and has inspired mothers across the country to find innovative ways to parent effectively.
