2018 American Mothers Manifesto

APRIL 10, 2023

2018 Mothers ManifestoMothers across the globe desire to make the world a better place for our children and our children’s children. Our power lies not only in our vision to see things as they really are, but in our efforts to make them as they should be.  Our strength comes not from our sameness, but from our unity amidst our diversity. While our skin comes in many shades, our bodies come in different shapes, and our challenges are unique, we share a mother’s heart that pulls us forward to love more and love better. We are women who lift our torches high that all may see their way home.

Today we call upon American Mothers to unite past political, ethnic, or religious divides and to see farther, to care deeper, and to serve more. Sometimes it takes a mother to wipe away the tears, cleanse the wounds, and give the healing touch to an ailing child or an ailing nation. When we serve at home or abroad in great and small ways, we are making a difference. Let us heal the world together, one scraped heart at a time.

Throughout 2018 American Mothers, Inc. will be focusing on a different issue each month. We will tell the stories of mothers in our communities and nonprofits making a positive impact. Throughout the year we will help you to see issues impacting families, we will show you mothers who care greatly, and we will give you specific ways to serve more.

We invite you to use the hashtag #weCare this year and help us show the world the greatness that comes from seeing, caring, and serving!

“As citizens of this great nation, it is kindness, love, and compassion for each other that will bring us together – and keep us together.” Melania Trump

“Like a caring mother holding and guarding the life of her only child, so with a boundless heart of loving-kindness, hold yourself and all beings as your beloved children.”  Buddha

“Caring for others is an expression of what it means to be fully human.” Hillary Clinton

“Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.” Leo Buscaglia
