Jennifer O’Brien, New York’s 2018 Mother of the Year®, is a force, and you know that from the minute you meet her. Her huge heart projects through a big smile and even bigger laugh, and her passion for differently-abled kids can’t be contained. American Mothers is thrilled to present a 2018 Golden Rule Grant to Jen for the American Special Hockey Association.
In Jen’s words:
Believing in what is possABLE – Mom’s do it best. We nurture our families, we support our communities and we serve without hesitation. On our family’s team, Mom is often the first coach, always believing in the potential for a better tomorrow.
As a recipient of The Golden Rule Grant, the American Special Hockey Association helped welcome thousands of players with special needs to the ice this season. Special Hockey encourages players with intellectual and developmental disabilities to reach for their goals on and off the ice. No matter how many differences in ability come into the rink, everyone is included on the team. But the impact of the Golden Rule Grant doesn’t end with the goals and bench. Everyone gets involved! Parents, coaches, volunteers, peers and players alike cheer each other on, encouraging every possibility.
Thank you American Mothers, Inc. for Championing for special hockey teams all across America. Your support has encouraged “Hockey Moms” and celebrates families of all abilities as they reach for their goals.
