She also shared that on November 2, 2018, Governor Larry Hogan, honored her for being nominated as the 2019 Maryland’s  AMI Mother of Year.  Governor Hogan welcomed Mrs. Whitaker and her family to the Governor’s House and invited Channel 4 to capture the special celebration.

Governor Hogan thanked Mrs. Whitaker for being an outstanding community and family servant.  He especially highlighted the fact that when Mrs. Whitaker ‘s son fell ill and needed a kidney transplant, Mrs. Whitaker did not hesitate and donated one of her own.  Governor Hogan said “Mrs. Whitaker’s selfless acts and dedication to serve others truly exemplify what we should all strive to be as great Marylanders.”

The Maryland AMI looks forward to sharing the stories of our leadership team and all the great things they’re doing for mothers, girls and their families.
