Nation’s leading mothers gather to name National Mother of the Year

Washington, D.C. (April 17, 2018) – – The 83rd Annual National American Mothers Convention “We See, We Care, We Serve.” presented by Soldier Strong is coming to the Mayflower Hotel April 22-24. The National Mother of the Year® will be announced at the gala that concludes the event. The 2018 Convention is generously sponsored by Soldier Strong, Whirlpool, and Alaska Air.

Since its launch in 1935, American Mothers, Inc.® has recognized the value of mothers in the shaping of our country. The American Mothers Annual Convention showcases mothers from around the world who serve in their homes, at work, and in their communities. These women are nurturers, leaders, and trailblazers. Past award recipients and convention speakers include Former Sec. of State HILLARY RODHAM CLINTON, ELIZABETH SMART, ROBYN MCGRAW, Lt. General MICHELLE JOHNSON, KATHY LEE GIFFORD, ALISON SWEENEY, and many others.

This year’s speakers include the first female National Geographic photographer, ANNIE GRIFFITHS, Congressman RODNEY DAVIS,  President of Oasis Nonprofit loss and disability advocate, BECKY ANDREWS, director of New Mexico tourism and 2017 National Mother of Year, REBECCA LATHAM, coach for mothers of wayward teens, MORAIMA OYOLA-PIZARRO, teacher and 2017 Texas Mother of the Year JENAY SHERMAN, and many more to be featured at americanmothers.org.

  • 3-minute, inspirational speeches by Mothers of the Year from each state (4/23/18, Mayflower District Ballroom, 10 am – 12:15 pm)
  • National 5th-grade essay contest winner reading essay “What My Mother Means to Me” (4/24/2018, Mayflower District Ballroom, 12:30 – 2:00 pm)
  • State Mothers of the Year meeting with Senators (4/24/18, Capital Hill, 2:30-5pm by appointment)
  • Gala where National Mother of the Year is named  (4/24/2018, Mayflower East Room, 7:00 – 9:30 pm)
