January 9, 2018- Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes presented the declaration from Utah Governor Gary R. Herbert designating January 2018 as Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month. The gathering was held in the historic Gold Room of the Utah State Capitol.
Attorney General Sean Reyes introduced 2017 Utah Mother of the Year LouAnn Christensen and gave Utah Mothers credit for having the idea of the proclamation. Many groups involved in raising awareness and stopping Human Trafficking were recognized.

LouAnn, 2017 Utah Mother of the Year, was inspired by the presentation given during the 2017 National Convention and decided that was something she wanted to work on during her year as Utah Mother of the Year. She contacted several groups throughout the state to see what could be done to work together. She finally decided that something had to be done to raise awareness of this issue in Utah. She contacted the Utah Attorney General’s office and worked with them for several months to create a proclamation.

American Mothers Care about ending slavery and human trafficking.
Thank you, Utah for showing us the power of an American Mother to make a difference in her community.
We See. We Care. We Serve.
