What is the best or worst “mom purchase” you’ve ever made and why?

Several years ago, I splurged and bought the most unnecessary item but I wanted it… a Roomba vaccum! I was so excited to have purchased something that was bound to make my busy life a little easier. Coming home from work or hockey practice to a freshly vacuumed home: priceless. What I didn’t expect to come home to one day was the overwhelming smell of dog poop! That’s bad enough, right? Low and behold, the Roomba had plowed through a fresh pile of poop, continued to vaccum and left perfect, poop-stained lines throughout my entire house. Awful, but hilarious!

If you could know the absolute and total truth to one question, what would you ask?

Who leaves the toilet roll empty? I swear… in a house full of boys this happens all the time and it is only me that notices this problem. Right?! Is it the moms role to replace the roll? Apparently so! Grrrr…

What was your biggest misconception about being a mom?

I thought being a mom would be easy… it had always been something I had wanted. I thought guiding my children based on my personal knowledge and life experiences while loving them well was all I needed to do to raise strong, healthy kids into adulthood. I had no idea how hard it truly could be until I had to bury 2 of my 4 sons. I was forced to become the rock for my family.. putting on the brave face, pushing forward every day, checking on everyone, being there for everyone. Motherhood is sometimes many things… not always easy.
