What is your favorite memory as a mother?
There are too many to choose just one, but one of my favorites is when my son first saw the ocean. It was in Cannon Beach, Oregon, when he was three years old, and I pictured that he would dip his toe in and be kind of careful about it. Instead, he started running like the entire ocean was six inches deep all the way across. I had to start running and grab him before he got in too deep.
Are there any celebrity moms you would rate as a “Perfect 10?” Why?
I think Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Garner seem like pretty cool celebrity moms. I like that they seem to try to raise their kids with pretty traditional values, even though their parents are rich and famous.
What was your biggest misconception about being a mom?
I think giving in to all the things I said I’d never do before I was a mom – like, “I’d NEVER give my kid cake for breakfast!” or “I’d never let my kid yell in a restaurant!” You do what you need to do to keep your sanity (and that of the general public!).
