About

Julie Cangialosi, B.S., R.D., is a registered dietitian and graduate of Russell Sage College’s nutrition science program. She completed a dietetic internship at the University of Connecticut, has been published in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association, and is a member of The American Dietetic Association. Her science education led to a career as an associate director for Novartis Pharmaceuticals. In 2011, Julie married James Cangialosi, an Air Force Office of Special Investigations special agent. They are the proud parents of Landon, Elle, and two guardian angels. Their two pregnancy losses inspired their nonprofit, Operation Little Angel 101: Hope After Loss. Julie has appeared on nationally syndicated talk shows, is a Today Show Parenting Teams contributor, a best selling author, and the reigning Mrs. DC International. When not championing her favorite causes, Julie and her family can be found traveling the world, visiting museums, and cheering on the Washington Capitals.

What surprises you most about being a mom?

Being a mom to Landon and Elle brings immense joy and pride. One of the biggest surprises is the deep love and connection that develops between a mother and her children. It’s amazing to see them grow and learn new things every day, and to be a part of shaping their personalities and character. The joys of seeing them achieve milestones, from their first steps to their first day of school, never gets old. The love, laughter, and snuggles with them make every challenge worth it. Being a mom to these two little blessings is one of life’s greatest gifts.

Who has been impactful in your journey as a mother? What lessons do you carry with you and share often through motherhood?

My mother has been a profound influence on my own journey as a mother. She taught me the importance of kindness and respect, with a healthy dose of humor. Our home was a place of warmth and inclusiveness, where “friendsgiving” was a regular practice. I aim to pass on these values to my children, instilling in them a love for others and a welcoming spirit. My mother’s guidance and love continue to shape me as a mother, and I am grateful for her enduring influence in my life and in the lives of my children.

What continues to inspire you in your motherhood journey?

My motherhood journey is inspired by my four children: Landon, Elle, and our two angel babies we lost by pregnancy loss. Our experience reminds us to cherish every moment and was our inspiration for starting our nonprofit Operation Little Angel 101. The love for all of my children is a constant source of inspiration and a reminder of a mother’s limitless love.
