Meet Megg Thompson, 2023 New Hampshire Mother of the Year®

March 9, 2023

About

Megg became a mother on May 16th, 2012 after 24 hours of labor at 34 years old. Previous to becoming a mother, she spent time with a lot of children. She has worked as a teacher, a nanny, and a sought-after babysitter. She thought motherhood was going to be easy because of her vast experience with children. Boy, was she in for a surprise! Motherhood, she believes, is the most fantastic and challenging thing people dive into willingly. Ten years after the birth of her son, Brennen, Megg has found a best buddy to hang out with on life’s greatest adventure.

What continues to inspire you in your motherhood journey?

As a behavior consultant that helps other mothers be at their best, I am fueled by the women I work with. Daily, I am inspired by other mother’s passions, hard work, ability to do it all (even though we shouldn’t have to) and find a community to ask for help so we don’t feel so alone and have new information to continue to grow!

How has being a mom shaped your life?

Oh my start to motherhood was harder than expected! I had postpartum anxiety and depression. Not having those experiences for 34 years, I had no skills to process and take care of myself well. I had to dig deep, lean on others and put my son first every second. 10 years later, I am in the deepest love with my best boy! He completes my world and I LOVE him to itsy bitsy little pieces!

Share one of your favorite stories from motherhood?

My son and I are HUGE fans of cheesy boardwalks and arcade games. We live about two miles from this exact experience in NH. I only work two days a week during the summer so Brennen and I can be together. We spent five years collecting and saving tickets to get the biggest and COOLEST teddy bear. It cost 100,000 tickets and this past summer we finally got to bring Ferdinand McFluffleButt home! We were filled with excitement and LOVE Ferdinand SO BIG!
