What surprises you most about being a mom?
As a young first-time mom, I always rushed the process. If I could get the time back, I would savor every moment. Time does not wait on anyone! What has totally surprised me about being a mom, is that the older my kids get, the more I want time to stand still. As our kids have gotten older, I love them and worry about them more. If I could give anyone mom advice on parenting. It would be to take it slow, don’t rush the process because it goes by quickly.
What continues to inspire you in your motherhood journey?
My grandchildren have continued to inspire me. They make me continue to want to lead by example. My grandchildren continue to motivate me to continue to be the best I can be. When I’m with them, I watch in wonder as they are intrigued by our world! Everything (in the eyes of a child) is new. I want to instill in them the same standards that I’ve set forth in their parents. Never be afraid to try something new, be kind and courteous, love everyone, and always do the right thing. Motherhood never stops even when you’re a grandparent.
How has being a mom shaped your life?
Being a mom has shaped my life as I’ve worked hard as my kids have always depended on me. It has shaped me to be more loving and compassionate to others. I’m a giver in my community, a friend to all, and know no stranger. Being said, I’ve always instilled in my kids that everyone is going through something. Always be kind and practice the golden rule of doing onto others as you would have them do unto you. Always be empathic to others, when they are going through a situation and never judge!
